Job Profile SummaryUnder the supervision and guidance of the registered Radiologic Technologist and Radiology Education Coordinator, the apprentice will prepare to become licensed as a Limited Scope Operator. Education will be provided through online and in-person methods on the administration of ionizing radiation to patients for diagnostic purposes, providing patient care services, and performing general radiographic procedures. Apprentices will be expected to pass the Minnesota Limited X-ray Operator exam and all associated modules upon completion of didactic training:oOverview of Core Modules: Patient Care, Safety, Image Production oOverview of Procedure Modules: Chest, Extremities, Skull/Sinuses, Spine, Podiatric oAcquainted with anatomy common radiographic positioning and projections.

Education Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities During Didactic Training:

• Expected 40 hours/week on coursework which includes the physics of x-ray production, the design and proper use of x-ray equipment, the principles of radiation safety and hands-on patient care
• Meeting with preceptors, radiology education coordinator, and program instructor daily to monitor progress
• Performing general x-ray exams supervised by a registered technologist preceptor in an outpatient setting
• Providing optimal patient care utilizing established and accepted techniques
• Completing educational coursework/competencies in accordance with the operator’s didactic program
• Apprentice will register with the ARRT and apply to take the MN Limited Scope Operators exam within their exam window
• Expected completion time 120-200 hours
• Successfully pass the Minnesota Radiology Exam within 3 months of hire

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

• Minnesota: Complete Basic Radiographic Operator training and successfully pass the Minnesota Radiology Exam with 3 months of hire

• North Dakota: Must hold current Limited X-ray machine Operator (LXMO) licensure through the North Dakota Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDBMIRT) upon hire

• Valid MN Department of Health x-ray Operator Certificate or ND Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board of Examiners certificate, dependent on state of work location

• Duluth Neighborhood Clinics: Valid MN State Drivers License
