About the Role:
The Quality Manager supports the food safety and quality assurance function by managing day-to-day quality operations in a food manufacturing facility. This role ensures production processes, products, and documentation meet regulatory, customer, and certification requirements. The Quality Manager supervises inspection and testing activities, leads the quality team on the plant floor, and supports audit readiness, reporting directly to senior FSQA leadership. PCQI certification is required for this position.
Responsibilities:
Supervise daily quality control and inspection activities, including raw material verification, in-process checks, and finished product release.
Serve as site PCQI, supporting Preventive Controls for Human Food programs in compliance with FSMA requirements.
Maintain and update quality documentation including SOPs, HACCP records, and batch production records.
Monitor sanitation verification, allergen control, environmental monitoring, and traceability procedures.
Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, and customer quality standards.
Lead, train, and coach quality technicians and inspectors to uphold consistent quality practices.
Support FSQA leadership during third-party, regulatory, and customer audits by maintaining audit readiness and documentation.
Track and report quality metrics, investigate deviations, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Collaborate with operations, R&D, and supply chain teams to address quality concerns and improve processes.
Promote a culture of food safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the production floor.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
PCQI certification required, with demonstrated application in food manufacturing.
3-5 years of quality assurance or food safety experience in food or beverage manufacturing.
Knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, GMP, and FDA/USDA regulatory requirements.
Strong experience supervising quality technicians and overseeing plant-floor quality operations.
Proficiency with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality improvement methods.
Strong communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Desired Qualifications:
HACCP or SQF Practitioner certification.
Experience with environmental monitoring, sanitation verification, and allergen management programs.
Familiarity with ERP or QMS systems for quality tracking and documentation.
Training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Ability to adapt to fast-paced production environments and support cross-functional teams.
